Jeans are allowed on Cruise Casual evenings, probably no shorts.

We just did the first night. We went casual. No shorts, but jeans for both of us. That first night they are very lenient because some do not get their luggage before dinner (although we got ours before muster).

I make a point to travel in some pants other than jeans, Khakis usually. I do not like to dine in a formal dining area in jeans. Just me. And often on the first night there are reduced rates in the speciality venues and I want to be able to enjoy one of those after a long day of travel. You titled the post steakhouse dinner, so I think you must be thinking the same thing, enjoy and relax that first night. If you want to travel in jeans, you can pack a pair of pants in the carry on and change before your dine at the steakhouse. I have never seen anyone in there in jeans. They do bend the rules in the MDR and almost anything goes depending who is at the door. I have seen (Sept) someone turned away for being "dressed down".
