Open Water Cert. on Mariner of the Seas

I found that Mariner of the Seas offers a Open Water Cert. program on a cruise I just booked. I have always wanted to get certified but just never got around to it. This sounds like my best chance. It says you do the class and pool work on the ship and then you do 2 open water dives when we get to St Thomas. Has anyone done this, or even heard about it?

Any more open water dives?

To earn the PADI Open Water Diver certification you will need to complete:

All 5 chapters in the textbook, answering the questions at the end of each chapter.

4 quizzes and the final exam.

5 "confined water" sessions (could be in a pool or other calm clear water)

and 4 open water training dives.

There is a lesser level of certification called a PADI Scuba Diver, but such divers still require supervision by a professional.
