charliewesley Posted December 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2005 Just returned from Star 12-19. Just a short review, and some comments. We got an upsell to an owners suite 9006, and jumped all over it. It was well worth it. A beautifull suite with two balconies plenty of room and lots of perks. Roy and Natasha our butler and conciegere were wonderfull. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and special. Food was very good at all the specialty restuarants. Poolside bbq was always good. We did not go to any of the shows in the theater but the piano players in Gatsbys were great. We have been to the Mex. riviera many times and Manzanillo and Mazatlan are just fine compared to Acapulco. Not much in the way of shopping in Manzanillo, but go on a tour or just kick back at one of the resorts. The casino was kind of slow on this trip, but was fun. More to come. Cherlynn Posted December 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2005 Thanks for the info on your cruise. Sounds like you had a good time. One question: did you get to the ports on time with the engine problems Star is having? Thanks, Cheryl
margaritagal Posted December 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 23, 2005 What did you do in Manzanillo? Some of the things I've read lately aren't real favorable. Did you do a ship excursion?
The Nice Family Posted December 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 23, 2005 Hi, We're on the Star 01/04 sailing and have booked an eco-tour to El Salto, a waterfall about 40 minutes outside town. We've never been to Mexico and it was very difficult finding info about Manzanillo excurions on this board - everyone seems to mention the Copala (sp?) tour but since were doing a tour with Mazatlan Frank we thought we'd try something different from a city/historic town tour. I hope we've made the right choice. If anyone has had any experience with an eco-tour out of Manzanillo to El Salto any reviews would be much appreciated. Can't wait to read your full review . . . Rongee Posted December 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 24, 2005 We got off the Star 12-19. Great cruise. In Manzanillo we hired a professor from Univ of Colima for a day at the volcano. It erupted while we were there. Fantastic. Expensive, but well worth it. We were going to go to El Salto, but they told us with the dry season it is not much of a fall. For those going on the Star in the future. Have a favor. Give the following a hug from Ron and Jennie. Ruxander in Aqua Anna Maria in Aqua Loredana in Cagney's Julia in Le Bistro. They spoiled us rotten. Miss them already. Ron and Jennie

Rongee Posted December 26, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 26, 2005 The professor's name is Gilles and his email address is 'gillesa@itesm.mx'. I have let him know he may be contacted. He does love his volcano so you will truly get an education. He is actually French but speak fluent English. Let me know what happens. Please do give the four young ladies a young from Ron and Jennie. rgillihan@bellsouth.net
