SHERATON / Fort Lauderdale / Port Everglades

In January 2005 we stayed at The Sheraton on Griffin Road, very close to the Port. There's an airport shuttle to this hotel and our charter organized a bus to take us to the Port, which is absolutely traffic-hell on Saturdays! But the HOTEL is GREAT. Lots of room in the lobby bar for a pre-cruise happy hour, a nice restaurant, decent breakfast and the MOST COMFORTABLE HOTEL BED AND SHEETS I HAVE EVER ENJOYED! Five stars from the Jazz Diva for this hotel. ;)

It's a decent hotel, but the "problem" with it is that there's absolutely nothing to walk to from there. If you wany to eat anywhere other than the hotel then you'll need taxis.

SE 17th Street is the best area for cruisers to stay in as the SE 17th Street hotels are the same distance from the airport terminals, yet much closer to Port Everglades and have dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores as well as the very popular Water Taxi all within safe, easy walking distance.
