I don't know how much help I can be but...

we stayed at the Eden Roc (beach front) with 6 kids (varies ages 6-13). The hotel is nice. No great ammenities for the kids but it does have a huge pool and a nice beach. The rooms are also very large but its not that well kept.

If you have more than 4 people + luggage call the hotel bellmen and they call a taxi service that comes with a small storage trunk (best way to describe it) attached to the hitch of the taxi. They're all over the pier area. It's the only way to go! Our hotel told us we were leaving WAY TOO EARLY (11:00) but they were wrong. We were on the Explorer by 12:15. We definately beat the massive amounts of people that came in behind us!!!

There's not alot to do in Miami with kids. Next time we're going in the night before.

Bayside Holiday-Inn seems to do the trick. It is right acorss fromt the Bayside Mall which is king of nice, and there will be taxi's waiting to take you across the bridge to the pier, quick and easy ride. Hotel is just a Holiday-Inn.

Since you won't be arriving in Miami until midnight, I can suggest only a couple of options.

1. Book room(s) at a hotel near the airport and see about arranging for a hotel shuttle to pick you up. You will probably need to get a cab/van to pick you up the next day for transport to the port.

2. Book room(s) in the downtown area through priceline, hotels.com or travelocity, get a cab/van at the airport to take you to the hotel. Check with the hotel if they can provide you with a shuttle, or can reccomend one to you for your trip to the port.

Your getting in too late to really need a hotel with lots of perks or spend alot of money on. There are lots of hotels near the airport, they will come pick you up and take you to the hotel. Some offer shuttles to the port, otherwise call for 2 van taxi's for all of you and your luggage for the ride to the pier. When you get off the ship there will be taxi's waiting for your return trip to the airport.

With young kids I would not stay downdown and have the extra taxi ride after a long day of traveling already.

Have a wonderful trip.
