There is an excursion you can take in FLL from the ship that drops you off at the airport afterwards. Don't know if they would take you to MIA however. Why not check the cruiseline site for excursions or call them and ask.

Hi There

My wife and I took a HAL cruise out of Ft Lauderdale last September. The boat docked at 8am and our flight was not out until 7pm ( sound familiar).

There were 2 or 3 shore trips available thru the crusie line. We optioned for a flat boat-(air boat) ride thru the Everglades to see Gadors and other wildlife. The cost was about $60 each. That included the bus to the airport - and entrance and ride ticket for the air boat.

The bus picked us up right in front of the HAL embarkation lot and dropped us off at the terminal for our airlines. We still had several hours to kill as we were at the airport by 3pm.

The same bus was continuing on to Miami. Some on the Miami bus did not have a flight until late - around 10pm. They indended to check their bags and take a cab to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino for a couple of hours. I guess they still had money from the cruise casino - oh well.

Hope this helps

Jack

I would seriously reconsider not renting a car. If you don't then you're going to be spending a lot of time just sitting around. There is nowhere at Port Everglades or any malls that will allow you to leave your luggage, that's another reason why most people who have flights THAT late rent a car and put the luggage in the back.

Yes, there are excursions that drop you off at either airport, but they generally drop you at the airports between noon and 1-1:30pm at the latest, still leaving a LOT of waiting time in the airport.

If you absolutely refuse to rent a car, then you may want to look into getting a day room at a hotel near MIA. These are nice places in a safe location...

I wouldn't recommend driving a car in Miami since they are from the UK and drive on the left instead of the right. The traffic there is horrible.

Well I drive in it everyday, it's no worse than traffic is in London and I've never had a problem there. In fact it's a lot EASIER than London because everything in South Florida is laid out in a grid... As for the steering wheel being on the "wrong" side, and driving on the "wrong" side of the road, that takes about 30 seconds to get used to.
