Clean Bed Close By - Ft. Lauderdale

OK, I've read through these boards, went to tripadvisor.com, searched all the hotel booking Web sites, and I still can't believe I can't get a clean place to sleep for ONE NIGHT in Ft. Lauderdale in March for less than $150, prior to my Saturday cruise. I tried Priceline too. Now I'm dazed and confused -- too much information.

Can you recommend a clean hotel, reasonably close to airport and Port Everglades, that will offer simply

-- a clean, quiet room

-- some shopping nearby (for liquor, soda, water)

I don't care about free shuttles, pools, views, etc.

THANK YOU!

not really. I posted on the Priceline thread above. I worked on Priceline with two different accounts for over a week before I finally got the Holiday Inn, which I really didn't want. I was kind of hoping to end up with Embassy Suites, but that is the risk you take with Priceline.

From what I understand conventions and the King Tut exhibit have the hotels really booked in March. Discounts are very hard to find.

Vippie, it's exceptionally tough this year, but these are your best bet for a decent budget hotel. These are on SE 17th Street, less than 10 minutes from FLL, just outside the entrance to Port Everglades with dozens of restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores as well as the very popular Water Taxi all within safe, easy walking distance. You didn't post your dates, but try Extended Stay America - It's a very nice, very clean newer hotel that's had some great rates lately, and the location can't be beaten!...

We stayed at the Choice Hotels (either Comfort Inn or Sleep Inn) there by Port Evergaldes in Oct of 04 when we left out of Port Everglades. This was very reasonable priced, I think $69 or $79. It was clean, quite and had free breakfast. Right across the street, you can walk to Walgreens. We picked up some pop and a few other things there.

We will probably stay there again when we go back this year in Oct. Nothing fancy but we are Choice Privilege members so we are used to these properties. They suit our needs just fine. Plus we didn't get into FLL the night before our cruise until 10:30pm, so we just needed a few hours of sleep. They also provided FREE transportation from aiport and to the the port. Can't beat a deal like that.

I will look up the exact name of the hotel and post again when I find it.
