fireguru Posted June 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Just returned from a 7 day western on RC, and while in Cozumel we went on the FURY CATAMARAN.....with "One eyed Willie" and it was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! We snorkeled at a great "near shore" coral garden, then sailed out about 5 miles to a PRIVATE beach, with volleyball, kayaks, floats, food, or just relax in a hammock under the trees....all while DRINKING ALL THE BEER AND MARGARITAS YOU CAN!!!!!! All of this was about 4-5 hours hours and all for only $46.00/each. While on the way back we danced, did the conga line, and yes kept putting back some ice cold cervesas......I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS EXCURSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Capt Fredirico and all his crew were great!!!! You can catch this right at the peir when you pull up!!!! MUST DO!!!!!
BoatGirl Posted June 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Fireguru, We did the Fury Catamarans when in Cozumel 5 years ago and loved it too! We didn't do it the last 2 times we went back and regreted it. We are going back to Cozumel this Fall, and are looking forward to taking the Fury again. It's great because it's kind of a party boat atmosphere, but the boat is much nicer and you get to take in the beautiful underwater sites as well! yorkbuff Posted June 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Is it best to wait and book the Fury once you get to Cozumel or can you also reserve on-line.
Cozumel_Tom Posted June 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Fury Catamarans has 2 different tours. The regular 3.5-4 hr cruise ship tour, and the 5-5.5 hr "public" tour that caters to hotel guests and locals. The $57 tour is the public tour. Fury will not take reservations for the shorter tour on-line. This must be booked through the cruise line...hope this helps...adios! Tizbensinj Posted June 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Is this excursion okay for kids? It sounds like fun.
Cozumel_Tom Posted June 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Yup, the kids will have tons of fun snorkeling, and later at their private beach, they've got floaty mats, kayaks, volleyball courts and a silver shop or Mom !! Have fun! P.S.- during the boat ride, stand at the bow and look for the flying fish that get scared up out of the water. They really DO fly ! ironbirds Posted June 17, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2004 The Carnival website says the minimum age for this excursion is 8 years old. Is this true?
basser Posted June 17, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 17, 2004 We just got back from the celebration and booked this tour from the ship. My advice is don't do this tour for the snorkeling! They take you to a basically dead coral area very near the ship and there are few fish and no pretty coral. I was disappointed. We had done Chakannab Park last year and went back there after the catamaran tour. It's so beautiful. If you want to party and hang out on the beach, this tour is o.k., but not to snorkle. You will have a better time doing Paradise Beach on your own, if that's what you want to do. Just one man's opinion.

Claybelle Posted February 7, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Thank you Basser! That's the info I needed. We aren't drinkers and if the snorkeling isn't worth doing, it would be a wasted trip.
