marzookah Posted September 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Can anyone advise about organised activities in SPB please. Staying 2 days and overnight next summer and really want to experience Russian nightlife without the need for a visa. Has anyone come across anything like a tour guide lead pub crawl or food tour? Saw a ballet ticket but was very expensive. Will be booking the daytime tour and some advertise "option for evening entertainment " not sure about this though and would really like to try some bars and restaurants
Rare John Bull Posted September 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Most of the local operators offer evening options (for those who book the day tour with them). That includes their equivalent of a pub crawl, or a night drive or river cruise, or dinner at a local's home. Or they can tailor-make for you - perhaps book dinner for you at a restaurant. Plus the ballet and folk show options. In most cases they take you & bring you back but leave you to your own devices at the venue. We did the folk show - it's unashamedly for tourists but great fun and well-performed in admittedly the "decayed-decadence" of a former palace, and we're so glad we did it (ballet isn't our scene) Our one regret - not asking that the driver divert to see the bridges etc at night on the way back to the port. Google the various tour operators mentioned on this forum (large or small, they all have great reputations) & check out their websites. E-mail for any specifics, they're pretty good at replying within a couple of days (check your spam box). JB :)
Mr Sea Gull Posted September 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2018 We did an evening tour with Dancing Bear Tours this summer and it was adapted around what we wanted to see. If you contact Julia at Dancing Bear she is very adaptable.
judijmn Posted September 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2018 we did "go out like a local" in 2017 it included vodka, drinking in a local bar, and a night time river cruise. The night time river cruise was a highlight, the lighted bridges are beautiful I think since last year more of the tour companies have more options that they can customize. We'd have liked a little more time on our own but we really enjoyed the evening.
