Sandra* Posted January 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2006 We just left them in our bags on the boats that take us out for our dives. The companies we have booked through are all certified and we checked them out beforehand. Also, they're not going anywhere since they have to pick us up so just check that everything's there when you get back into the boat after your dive. We have never had a problem. Stevesan Posted January 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2006 What do you do with your wallet, camera, and glasseswhile snorkeling? Glasses: Hard case. Leave in snorkel/dive bag. Wallet: Leave on ship/hotel in safe. Carry one credit card and some currency and a copy of passport. Camera: See glasses. Recommend getting an underwater. For "valuables" that you feel uncomfortable leaving on board: http://www.watchfuleyedesigns.com/ The SKU: DMM Splash Caddy is good for snorkeling. Texas_Diver Posted January 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2006 Many beaches have lockers to secure valuables. Otherwise, we always use a dry-box. They are shaped like a deck of cards and can hold a wallet/ money/whatever. They are available at Walmart or Academy and cost about $3.00.
divadiverfl Posted January 19, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2006 Yes, leave your wallet on the ship. If you are just going diving and right back to the ship--carry enough money for a tip to your captain and divemasters. Glasses will be fine there in a hard case. larkwind Posted January 21, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2006 disposable underwater camera--take with into water or leave on shore or boat...no great loss if stolen Cash for day, sea pass card, one credit card, drivers license--put in any neck carrier (waterproof or not) and take into water...cash dries, others are waterproof. Have copies back on ship in case lost. Anything left on boat/shore--check bag after return and report anything missing. Nobody will take your prescription glasses and if you're worried about designer sunglasses, leave them on the ship and wear a cheaper pair.
