merlot Posted April 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We booked a guarantee cabin. When will I be able to find out what cabin they have assigned us to, or will I have to wait until we check in? Thanks in advance. Carnival Holiday 10/00 Majesty of the Seas 05/03 Carnival Ecstasy 05/04 Carnival Ecstasy
imatarb Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I think I've heard that you can call within a week of sailing and they might have your room assignment. Lisa Monarch of the Seas - '94 Royal Majesty - '96 Countdown to VICTORY
tef43 Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 One reason that the cruiselines are reticent about releasing the information on the assignment of guaranteed cabins prior to embarkation is that the assignment might could change. NinaCO Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Usually, you can get it 3-5 days prior to sailing. But, a couple of times I had to wait until I got to the pier. Sleazy 3 on Conquest in Just:
momofmeg Posted April 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2004 That is what I am wondering as we sail this Fri. (April 9) on Miracle. We had a guanrantee 8A balcony. Do you think I could find out if I go to the Carnival website?
momofmeg Posted April 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2004 We called and our cabin has still not been assigned. We leave in 2 days now. So I guess it is true sometimes it is not assigned to you until you get to the dock. Hope this means we get a great upgrade.
CapnJackSparrow Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 So what am I supposed to do? My daughter sails on May 22, and I want to order some goodies for her cabin as a surprise. If they don't have their cabin number, then I can't order? Or will they be able to take the order and manage to take it to the right cabin? Tim&Angie Posted April 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2004 If this helps, we placed orders for stuff for our Son even though we do not have our cabin number yet. They will just put a hold on it until you get a number. There is a 1 800 number you can call to place orders. Not sure of the number but i'm sure someone here will know. Have a safe and happy trip! mathgal Posted April 10, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2004 We had a guarantee cabin when we sailed two years ago. A family member ordered flowers for us from her local small town florist (in Illinois) and they were waiting in our cabin when we arrived. (So there are other options than just ordering directly from Carnival!) Although we didn't "officially" find out our cabin number till we arrived at the port, I had used the "Kelly" method and found our assignment a couple of weeks prior to the cruise. till we are in Paradise again! imatarb Posted April 10, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Glad you had more luck with the Kelly method. I eliminated three decks one night, and still didn't find our room. Oh well! Palmerfamily Posted April 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Please post the "Kelly" method. I'm new to this message board and keep seeing references to it and want to use it. This board is the best cruise prep I've ever seen! Happy sailing!
momofmeg Posted April 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Yes what is the "Kelly" method? I went to the Carnival website, called Carnival and my TA and still did not find out until we got to the pier.
jennifervail Posted April 13, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Funny, I just posted this a few minutes ago on another thread, but it wouldn't hurt to put it here too. So, here goes: Some say it works, some are convinced it doesn't. I'm among the former group for now, but I'll see how accurate it is on my upcoming cruise! In order to do this infamous "Kelly method" one must have a booking number for a guaranteed cabin. Go to the carnival website to where it says "Gifts and Services." Once there, select an item as if you were going to buy it. Enter your booking number. Now, this is where it becomes VERY time consuming (but a good way to kill time until you cruise!). Get your deck plan and start entering cabin numbers. If you've booked a 1A, it's probably not wise to start with Cat 12 suites. Start low and inside. Or if you've booked a guar oceanview, start on the lowest decks. As you go, you'll keep getting the same error message - something like "cannot book for a guaranteed stateroom". However, there should be one "magic" cabin that gives you an entirely different error message - one that reads "call 1-800-whatever to order". This is the one that, we're assuming, is your cabin. It may be wrong, it may be right. But it's something to do! BTW - I went through the whole ship and didn't find anything. Then last week (1 month prior to my cruise), I finally hit pay dirt. So if you're still 252 days out, it may not pay to do it until closer to time Hope that helps clear it up! Have fun and happy cruising. until I sail on smoke-free Paradise! waterbound Posted April 14, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Just tried the kelly method for our cruise on the 15th and I think I might have found ours... I went thru tons of the cabin #'s.. I kept coming across the message invalid booking and/or state room.. every one of them kept saying that.. I came across one that said "we are sorry, but an online order cannot be placed for a guaranteed category cabin.. please call 800# to place your order" I did a few more after this and got that original message.. so this might be the one.. if it is, they moved us from inside to outside oceanview.. Not bad!! I guess I'll see on Thursday for sure.. sea_u_onboard Posted April 18, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 18, 2004 OK - Let's see if this theory makes any sense based on the prior posts. I booked a three person cabin for July 31 on the Celebration - 4A guarantee -- and even though it's over 100 days away I decided to see if I could find where we are "PLACED" right now. Well, I went to several sites and they are no longer offering category 4A. I checked every 3 and 4 person cabin on the Riviera Deck and came up empty handed. Since this category is sold out what do you think my chances are that I got an upgrade? -- Cheryl ****Proud member of O.A.T.C.**** Check out my Homepage in my profile for Conquest info 10/99 Fantasy 12/01 Inspiration 03/02 Inspiration 03/03 Conquest Short one on the Celebration JULY 31, 2004
donte007 Posted April 18, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Did the Kelly method. This does work. I went through the 5a cat, finally got to one that let me choose which person in this room the gift should go to. waterbound Posted April 20, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Just wanted to post my results.... Just got back today and indeed we had the cabin that I found doing the Kelly Method!!! We got an outside window!! I was so excited because we have only had inside before and did an inside guarantee and got the window cabin... Cool-- it was the exact cabin I thought..
