Destiny itinerary

We have cruised several times before and have always booked excursions on board the cruise ship. After reviewing postings here, beginning to believe better option would be to contact tours directly.

Any suggestions for :

San Juan

St. Thomas

Dominica

Barbados

Aruba

We enjoy the sun and sand. Also would like to visit rain forest. Traveling with our children- 11 and 13. All of our previous cruises have been to Bahamas and Mexico so this is new itinerary for us.

Thanks.

I would go through the Destiny Cruisers, Past and Future main thread and the Ports of Call boards before making any final decisions, but here's what we did and LOVED every minute!!

San Juan- did pre and post cruise stay in Isla Verde. Basically did the sightseeing on our own in OSJ walking the streets, taking in the street bands, and having some cocktails with the locals. Went to Metropol and Tangerine for dinner- both really great!

St. Thomas- book a shopping, island tour, and beach stay with Godfrey Tours. Great guy; everyone uses him, and it's very cheap!

Dominica- Reyno Tours; Reynold is a great guy... reynotours@hotmail.com

This is a must tour island or you'll just miss out on the spectacular beauty. Very inexpensive to tour as well

Barbados- Best of Barbados tour with Glory Tours www.glorytours.org

Fantastic tour of the highlights along with snorkeling, glass bottom boat, and swimming with turtles in the afternoon. Go to the Boatyard in the evening for adult fun.

Aruba- Rent a jeep and explore on your own... Lots to see and do! www.arubaroyal.com In the evening, there are several very fun bars to visit and crawl back to the ship safely.

Have fun planning!

Just decided on the Destiny yesterday and am very excited about the itinerary. As Pholter noted, check out the Destiny board, past, present and future as there is a TON of helpful information there.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=44544

BEWARE - It is 162 PAGES!!!!!

We were in St. Thomas in December and I must also agree that Godfrey and his tour of island, plus shopping and choice of three beaches for $20 PP is an amazing deal (I heard on these boards he went up to $25-but still worth it for the ENTIRE day!!! There is an area near where you meet up with him at noon where you can buy 5 tshirts for $10 - I am sure the kids would love that!! They really had some pretty decent ones for sale and they were fun to pick out. Some vendors had them at 4 for $10.

Godfrey is awesome and so knowledgeable about HIS island. Do check him out and email him to see if he has openings. Just walking thru St. Thomas is heavenly.......

Cannot wait to hear all about your cruise. ALso check out the ports of call boards and ask away

Like the above posters said....check out the Destiny thread and Ports of Call boards.

Here's what we did:

St Thomas: Took a cab on our own to Coki Beach.....loved it!

Dominica: Tour with Beno www.benox265@hotmail.com Ditto what pholter said. If you don't book a tour here, you might be disappointed.

Barbados: www.oceanadventures.bb Totally amazing.....worth every penny!

Aruba: Found a cab off the ship and he took us around the island.

Have fun planning and enjoy your cruise!!

Thanks for the advice. We are very exited about this trip. We want to see and do as much as we can, but want to do the quality sight seeing trips. Have found that sometimes the price on the ship was not worth the tour.

I will contact the suggested tours to try to get set up for the various ports.

Can't wait to share info when we return.
