kujobie Posted April 7, 2004 Author #26 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Here's the in's and out's as I have experienced it. I have always booked 6-8 months in advance, as I did this time. Paid in full at time of booking. I have always got a good rate booking that early. I originally paid $599 for a 7-day 4A guarantee on the Glory on 4/17. Not a bad deal. I then check prices at least once a day on Travelocity, who I booked with, and on Carnival's site. The prices have been up for a long time, almost from the time I booked, sometimes as much as $150 more per person. Then they went back down to what I paid, then plummetted today. It's a crap shoot, you don't know in advance how well it's gonna sell. On my sailing, balconies and outsides are sold out but there is a ton of insides available. I wasn't gonna score a balcony upgrade anyways so I specifically asked for the credit. 4a to 4E is worthless to me. I still don't have a window to look out of. Best bet is to book well in advance or last minute, if you can be flexible. Jubilee..May 2002 Sensation...May 2003 Glory...April 2004

kujobie Posted April 8, 2004 Author #28 Share Posted April 8, 2004 I did. Paid in full six months ago and got a credit this morning. Depends on if your TA wants to call Carnival or not. 2 out of 3 times I've done it. The last time, I was offerred, and accepted, an upgrade to an OV from an inside. gwells Posted April 8, 2004 #29 Share Posted April 8, 2004 i had paid in full in January and just received an $854 refund last week. So being paid in full shouldn't hinder you if you have a good TA until 4/04 Victory Cruise!! imatarb Posted April 8, 2004 #30 Share Posted April 8, 2004 We paid our cruise in full in Feb. for our 5/9 sailing. We just upgraded from gty. inside to gty. balcony. If I happen to see the price drop in my category on the carnival website, then I can call my TA and ask for credit? Would this credit affect their commission, and how likely are they to do this for me? I don't want to take money from her, but at the same time, I'd like to get the most for my dollar.
