Belize

We are sailing on the Carnival Miracle in May. I want to know about Belize. What is the port like? Someone said that they stand around with guns!!!!

My husband wants to retire there! We sailed there on the Miracle last Feb. There is shopping, bars, and a couple restaurants. We went snorkeling in the morning which left us plenty of time to visit all of those places!

 

I didn't see anyone with guns in Belize. In Costa Maya they were around though.

As in some other western carribean ports, the police do carry machine guns.

Try here. Belize is beautiful but you need to get away from the port itself!

Didn't see anyone with guns, but had a great Beliken Beer at the Wet Lizard in port. Would love to return and explore further. Strongly suggest cave tubing if you go.

The Miracle has a great itinerary but of all the ports Belize is the one that I would not recommend just "winging it". Book an excursion and you'll really have fun. The port area is small and IMO uninteresting.
