Hawaii from Ensenada

Has anyone taken the shuttle from the San Diego airport to Ensenada to embark on the cruise to Hawaii? Carnival is very vague about what will happen, i.e. how long we wait at the airport, how often the shuttles run, what we do in Ensenada once we arrive, etc. All I've been told is that the trip takes 2+ hours and the last shuttle leaves at 4:00 p.m.

It was 1998 for me, so things may have changed since then, but we arrived around noon in SD, got our things, and we were on the bus within an hour. Took the two hour trip, and they did all the paperwork checkin right on the bus.

We sailed at 5.

Holiday was in port with us. We were on the "Ju-bee".

We enjoyed very much our cruise on the Carnival Spirit in the Spring of 2004 from Ensenada to Hawaii. The five sea days were very relaxing.

We flew into San Diego and Carnival met us at the airport. They took our bags and put them into a truck. They than directed us to an area where they were taking the passengers from the airport to a wharf used as a stagging area. We waited at the wharf for a few hours. Than Carnival started loading the passengers onto charted buses for the ride down to Ensenada. We enjoyed the ride down as they took a new highway that ran along side of the Mexico Pacific sea coast and it was a pretty view to see. So if you can get a seat on the right side (opposite side from driver) of the bus for the best view.

The trip was easy and enjoyable from the airport to the wharf and than down to 'Ensenada. Worst part was the waiting at the wharf.

Once aboard the Carnival Spirit the cruise was on very smooth water. The first two days out from Ensenada were a little cool. However, it was comfortable and each day warmed up a little.

We took only Carnival Spirit cruise excursions. Most enjoyable one was in Hilo with a trip up to the top of Mauna Kea to view the numerous beautiful observatories up above the 13,000 foot level. And yes there was snow on the ground up there when we visited. Just imagine seeing snow in Hawaii.

Just relax and enjoy your cruise. Hoping you all will enjoy it as much as we did.
