magnumcoog Posted April 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I have booked an Alaskan cruise and have cabin 7031. This cabin is behind the aft elevators. Appears that it is a large cabin 235 Sf, with 80 sf veranda. This cabin is a category 9, and got it for $300 less per person than a category 8. Has anyone stayed in this cabin or one that is similiar? If so, how was it and do you have a picture? Rare finoky Posted April 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I have never stayed in it but I am wondering who fell asleep and gave you that deal! Congrats. From what I hear category 9's are awesome. magnumcoog Posted April 10, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I saw the price on one of the major online all purpose websites and then had my online only T.A. give me a quote which was of course much lower. The only thing I can think of is maybe the other category prices are wrong, but I am happy as it appears is still less than the prices I am seeing for 2004 Alaskan Cruises. luvbugwinkle Posted April 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Try these sites http://www.virtualtoursusa.com/galleryships.htm http://www.cruisestateroom.com/847932/indexships-frame.htm Also could your cabin # be 7301? Hope this helps
luvbugwinkle Posted April 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Oh yeah if your ship is not listed then try one of her sister ships ie Legend or Pride for Miracle or Spirit. Same layouts just decor changes.
Patdmoose Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I have been looking at the '05 Alaska cruises on the Spirit. The 9A cabins are only $50 more than an 8A guarantee. The price listed on the CCL website is $1099 for the first May sailing. I know that my TA will beat that, but I am also wondering what the catch is? Since these cabins are in the recessed area of the ship where the lifeboats are kept, I wonder if there are cable or lift/lower equipment in front of the balcony?? -Patdmoose 1/99 Imagination 2/01 Celebration 1/02 Inspiration 2/03 Holiday 2/04 Paradise
magnumcoog Posted April 10, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted April 10, 2004 The cabin that I have is on the Veranda deck. The life boats would not be an issue on this deck. I think life boats are on the main deck. Going up from the main deck is the upper deck which would be the closest to the lifeboats, the up another is Empress, then Veranda, and finally Panorama. If you can get the top 3 I would say there would be no issues with the life boats. Luvbugwinkle, thanks for the links however there were no pictures or layouts on this catergory for the Spirit. I did check out one of the Costa ships and saw the room, although it showed as being smaller than what was listed for the Spirit on the same site. Oh, and wish I could go a bit earlier but my daughter will still be in school. The week I have booked works better for me at work and also can rest up after cruise for 4th of July weekend. My 18th anniversary is that weekend as well, and since I have not told my wife that I have booked this cruise, it will be one of my excuses to do so-LOL. I just hope I am able to use my Delta Skymiles for the air. From what I have seen so far, the Spirit seems like one of the best Carnival ships. luvbugwinkle Posted April 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Magnumcoog In your OP you stated you were in cabin 7031? Couldn't find it any where. But there is a CAT9 cabin 7301 located behind the elevators. http://www.virtualtoursusa.com/tours/carnivallegend/deluxe.htm try the site above selecting Deluxe oceanview stateroom w/large balcony, CAT 9A Your cabin layout should look like this Hope this helps
magnumcoog Posted April 10, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Luvbugwinkle, sorry about that you are correct it is 7301. Thanks for the link. nmarsh Posted April 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We stayed in a cat 9 on our last cruise. It is a nice spacious room with lots of closet space and a nice dresser, a shower with a tub, a separate vanity area, and a stocked refrigerator,a very nice room. Have a nice cruise! magnumcoog Posted April 13, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Is there any noise from the elevators? luvbugwinkle Posted April 13, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Glad I could help with the pix. Sorry I don't know about elevator noise. It looks like it's in a good location. I think it's GREAT that you and your DW will be celebrating your 18th on the cruise. Perhaps if you re-post your inquiry ie Elevator noise on Spirit maybe you'll find your answer.
