TRAVELIN LADY Posted April 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2004 HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS IN NEW YORK. SPECIFICALY WHAT TIME DO YOU TELL LIMO COMPANY TO PICK YOU UP. WHAT TIME DO YOU ARRIVE AT THE PIER? WHAT IS THE PARKING AND TRAFFIC LIKE IF YOU DRIVE YOURSELF?
jfritz126 Posted April 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2004 We arrived at the pier around 11:30 and we had about a 1 hour wait. Then we had our limo driver pick us up across the street at about 9:00 I think. We opted to carry our own luggage off and it only took us a short time from our room to get off the ship. It was much easier than going somewhere and waiting to be called. We then called our limo company and they picked us up across the street where there was no traffic. It was much easier than pulling into the port area. blandadi Posted April 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We are going on the Legend 5/7 out of New York coming down by car service to the pier from Westchester County. Ship leaving at 4PM will arrive about l:30 and my car service told me to call when we arrive back on the l5th and they will pick us up wherever we tell them we are waiting because there is no where for the cars to park for pick up they just have to drive on by if you are not waiting. Hope this helps you
pgmrdev Posted April 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2004 It is a mess, especially with multiple ships in port. An option may be to walk the few blocks to 39th and 12th where the NY Waterways Ferry will take you across to Weehawken. You can have your limo pick you up there. You could leave your own car there. We did just that back in October when we went ount on the Golden Princess. It is cheaper than the dockside parking.

Grand Princess 2-2001 Grand Princess 12-2001 Carnival Paradise 3-2002 Carnival Destiny 10-2002 Golden Princess 10-2003 Carnival Legend 6-8-2004

TRAVELIN LADY Posted April 19, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted April 19, 2004 THANKS FOR ALL OF THE REPLYS. I THINK THAT WE WILL HAVE THE CAR SERVICE PICK US UP ACROSS THE STREET. I ALSO HOPE THAT WE CAN TAKE OUR OWN LUGGAGE OFF. THAT WILL BE A GREAT TIME SAVER.
TRAVELIN LADY Posted June 21, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted June 21, 2004 Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the parking at the pier. MIRACLE 7/
NJtomato Posted June 21, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2004 We parked at the pier in Sept 2000, and in June 2003. Its was VERY easy both times. Im hoping it will be the same on Thursday!! bippytrip Posted June 21, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2004 pgmrdev Do you have more info on Weehawken? We will be coming from RT 3 to 495 East. Before we get to the Lincoln Tunnel, where do we go to get to the ferry? How much is it to park? What frequency does the ferry run? If it is easier than driving in the city, I would be interested. The only thing I am worried about is if there is security for the vehicles. Thanks for the info Miracle 7/17/
boomboom51 Posted June 29, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2004 I'm also very interested in the infromation about parking in Weehawken and the ferry. Anything to help eliminate the need for driving in NYC!! If someone could elaborate on this alternative it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
