mclaire Posted January 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2006 We will be in GC on the 11th (and it looks like we are the only ship in port that day!) and would like to go to Sea Grape Beach. Got burned by a cab driver on our last visit...so....do we tell the driver to take us to Sea Grape Beach? or to 7 mile beach? is there a sign for Sea Grape? Just want to make sure we get there! Thanks much
Froufie Posted January 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Hi mcclaire, Here is a response I got about Sea Grape from another thread: Hi Froufie-Sea Grape is wonderful. It is located next to the public beach. There is no fee to use any of the beach on 7 mile. When you get off the tender proceed to the left-you'll see many taxi vans sitting there waiting to load people up to go to the beach. It's 5.00/pp one way. They do wait to leave until every seat if full so it may take a few min. Tell them you want to go to Sea Grape beach & if they try to get you to get off at Royal Palms or Coloney Beach Club tell them no you want to go to Sea Grape. I think they get a commission on referrals! Coloney charges a fee like 10.00 & they say you have to pay it but it includes a chair. Don't do it. You'll be happy you went to sea grape. It's free unless you want a chair then you can pay for it. Also keep in mind it's expensive to eat in GC. I did pack a few snacks from home! Also you could walk it-it's around 3 miles to Coloney Beach & then probably 4/5 to Sea Grape-I may be overestimating it a bit but you could try to walk it. I think you can walk along the waters edge too at some point. Sue Hope this helps! Froufie
twinkletoes4445 Posted January 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Sea Grape is clearly marked, and all cab drivers know where it is. They may not want to take you there since it's a bit further down the road (they charge per person, not where you are going). I think it's across the street from the Courtyard Marriott. We were there a couple of weeks ago (for a week), and we drove past Sea Grape many times. The beach area looked really nice, and although there were cars and buses, it never really looked crowded. If you're going to be in GC on a Saturday, you will probably be the only ship there. When we were there, we noticed every day except Saturday had more ships than the port authority showed. One day, there was 8 or 9, and it was scary! We even went to town and had lunch on Satuday. It wasn't crowded at all! Have a great time!
