Courtyard by Marriott Miami Downtown

We stayed at the Hyatt across the street. Taxi was $10 to the port of Miami, and $20 back to the Hyatt after the cruise (Marathon in town with streets shut down). Be careful with the taxis as they are supposed to charge a $2 surcharge to the port, but on the return trip they insisted on a $5 surcharge because of the street closures. We did call the cab company and report this to them. They are only allowed a $2 surcharge. Had we known we would have insisted on it. There are no nearby stores or restaraunts open on the weekend. Bayside market is an easy 3 block walk (NOT to be walked at night but safe during the day). There is a monorail like bus system available that is free to use during the weekends which has a station right outside of the Coutyard (again beware at night). It will also take you to within a block of the Bayside market for shopping and dining. Hotel looked ok from the outside. We would consider it next time we are in Miami.
