danklcsw Posted January 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Will be staying in Rome following a Greek Isle cruise (Galaxy leaves on July 3). Does anyone have recommendations on a Rome Hotel that is pretty central in Rome. I am considering the Bettoja Hotel Nord Nuova Roma. Danklcsw:)
greydog Posted January 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Our TA uses small Hotel Quirinale at $284 and says it is close to many sights. Airport Hilton in late May for $200 nite but with several free shuttles 16 miles into Rome. We found a Knopf guide to Rome that is full of excellent color pix of sights (a 'souvenir' in its own right) and has several walking tours laid out. :D
riverdream Posted January 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2006 We were in Rome and stayed at the Hotel Ambacitoria. Was very nice and very conveniently located.
superjerryw Posted January 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2006 We stayed at the Mercure hotel near the Colosseum. The double rooms are very small, but the buffet breakfast is very good and includes several hot items. It's a five minute walk to the Colosseum which can be seen from the front of the hotel and from the rooftop where there is a swimming pool which is very unusual for a hotel in Rome. The Colosseum is adjacent to the Forum and the northern end of the Forum puts you at Piazza Venetzia. You can walk from there to the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
