? for people who have their docs and an assigned cabin

I was just on another board and someone noticed something interesting about the back of the sign and sail account document in the Carnival documents. On the back and the bottom of the sign and sail account info, there are a bunch of numbers after the booking number. She is thinking it could be a cabin assignment. I was just wondering if any of you that actually have an assigned cabin number already can confirm this. I booked a guarantee and know nothing is definite until we get to the pier but was just curious. Thanks for any help!

kath1021, you could be on to something! In my documents on the back of the sail and sign page at the bottom...the first set of numbers are my reservation number and then my cabin number all grouped together. I am sure that you know your reservation number so there is a good chance that any remaining letter/numbers would be your assigned cabin number. There is then a space and more numbers starting with the abbreviation for our ship the Elation of "EL" then number and ending with our last name. Are there additional numbers after your reservation number and before the space which starts out with your ship's abbreviation?

If that is true...remember there is also a possibility that Carnival uses the same generic cabin number for all guarantees with in a certain level of cabin? So everyone would have that same cabin number on the back of that page with in a certain category.

When you get back you will have to let everyone know if it was indeed you assigned cabin for your guarantee purchase that was listed on the back of your sign and sail page.

airdale, yes there is a four digit number after my reservation number (6485). Then there's a space and more numbers which look like the sail date and some more numbers. The person who discovered this is traveling with other people and she checked with them and they all have similar numbers as her after their reservation information. I'm hoping that I do get that cabin number because that's an 8A balcony room and we booked a 6A guarantee!

Bummer, I hope you're wrong! I have the WORST cabin possible in the OV Guarantee. Lowest deck and my door opens directly to the srairs and elevators near the front of the ship. The chance you take. It's only a 4 day, that's why I took the chance. After feeling like I got a pretty good deal, now I think otherwise since the price went down substantially after my final payment, the day I booked! People in 4 categories higher than me payed LESS! Oh well, live and learn. That's why I always book the cabin I want for the 7 days.

Happy Cruising!

Yup! My S&S page has the same... booking #, followed by cabin #, followed by DE for Destiny, the date of sailing and my name.

Mrs. Booger - Have you (or your TA) tried asking Carnival about upgrades due to the price drop? Even though it was after the full payment date we were able to get my brother and sister in law upgraded because of a price drop. My TA called them and they were really nice about it. They wouldn't give them an onboard credit, but got a nice upgrade. It doesn't hurt to ask!

teedee,

Yes, tried once and they offered to upgrade to 6B, but the price at the time was the equivalent of a 6D. They gave me a $50.00 shipboard credit. Didn't feel right about the 6B. Now the price is EVEN LOWER! So the moral of the story is if you're going to book less than 60 days out wait until about 21 days out. They treat you better closer to the sailing date. They are now offering free upgrades from 6A to 6D. So they put me in the 6A so they can entice people to book with less than 2 weeks out. Just not right in my book. I've never experienced this with any other cruise line. I was excited about returning to Carnival since they have ships in Tampa. This might be the last one for me for a while again.

Happy Cruising!

I just checked my documents and on the back is our booking number followed by TBA (we have a 6A Guar). But we received our docs several weeks ago and have another 21 days until we sail. I was actually surprised they sent us them so early!

mrsbooger - Did you go to the Carnival site and try to purchase anything using the "supposed" cabin number? It looks like if it is your cabin you will get the "Guarantee cabins must call 1-800..." message. Just curious.

kath1021, alright it looks like that just may be your cabin number. Please post a new topic and let everyone know if that is indeed your cabin.

mrsmrsbooger, I would get a hold of your TA and ask for another upgrade or credit to reflect their price drop. They won't shoot you for asking.

Wow, you have definitely hit on something here. Just before I received my docs, I found my guaranteed cabin using the Kelly Method. Looking at the back of the S&S form, I see my booking #, followed by that cabin number. A few days after receiving my docs, again using the Kelly method, I found my cabin number had changed. So even though it's printed there, is still not cast in stone.

Stan - do you still have the category that you told us about during last week's chat, or has it changed again?

I'm happy to report that Carnival finally budged a little. They would have given me the 6D, but I opted for the 6C since I didn't want to be under the dining room. They would not give me the $50 shipboard credit though. I was more than happy to give that up. I wanted the better cabin, not the credit in the first place. Great catch on the S&S! Thanks, you guys have improved my cruise before I even got on board!

Happy Cruising!

You might be 71st in line for assignment of a cabin. Doulasue has an '87' on her docs and was asking the same thing. Everyone is just guessing, of course, but try to find the thread on suggestions of what it could mean.
