Aziah Posted April 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Hi! This is my first time cruising and I could use a little advice for anyone that has been on the Sensation. To sum up my situation, I am a non-drinker, vegetarian, and a non-smoker (oh, and my husband and I are in our late 20s). As for drinking, I like virgin drinks...do they charge an "arm and a leg" for virgin drinks? For my husband, how much can he expect to pay for beer (like Corona)? (and we don't have to tip on drinks because tipping is included, right?) For the vegetarian part, do I need to notify someone that I am vegetarian? Do they cater to vegetarians? Also, I heard that this ship reeks of smoke where smokers smoke in non-smoking areas...is this true? Finally, our one and only stop is going to be Cozumel. I won't be able to dive this trip...but can anyone recommend a good snorkeling adventure??? Anything else we need to "hit" or see while there? Any advice would be appreciated...especially when it comes to how and when to tip!
teedee Posted April 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Hi - I can't help with all your questions but here's what I do know. 1. Vegetarian Options - Are available, usually they are on the regular menu, but if not ask for the vegeterian menu and you will have plenty to choose from. 2. Drinks - Tips are included on any bar drinks, virgin or not. I think the virgin drinks are a little cheaper, but not by much. 3. I've never had a problem with smoke from people smoking in non smoking areas. I have seen one or two people do it, but that's not the norm and it's never been a problem with me. Disneycruiser#1 Posted April 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2004 My DH and I cruised the Inspiration last May and loved it. We do not smoke and my DH has a few beers but I don't drink. Yes, the smoke is there but like the other poster said not to the point I was sick or my eyes swelled up. Just find a different spot. It smelled like a cruise ship in the cabins just bring your stick ups (one for the bathroom and one for the room) in a nice scent and you will be fine. On all cruises I have been on on all cruiselines at dinner there is usually a vegetarian selection, red meat, chicken and a fish. Hope that helps. I am heading on the Sensation May 1 so I will post what else I find out.
SUSANITA Posted April 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Your husband should buy "buckets of beer", they are 4 beers in a bucket packed with ice, and he'll save a couple of dollars this way. You should check out Eagle Ray divers in Cozumel, they do a snorkeling trip, ask for Chellie. You can just do an internet search to find them, or there is info on the "ports of call" board here on CC. I'm taking this same cruise on May 6th, can't wait. I've sailed Sensation before. The only time that the smoke really got to me was in the casino. Suep366394@aol.com NEXT UP~SENSATION 5/6/04! MARINER~ 9/19! Cotton Posted April 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 First time cruiser! Y'all will love it! There is a nice selection of vegetarian entrees at each meal in the dining room. I posted all the veg. items for someone a coupla weeks ago, but I don't know where the thread is now. Sorry. And I just yesterday gave my son the printed menus I had. Bad timing. About the snorkeling ... There are several parks that have great snorkeling, as well as going out on one of the boat tours. I snorkeled at Chankanaab Park - and it was great. (The whole park was a wonderful experience, and I've done it twice.) While snorkeling, you'll see underwater statues as well as beautiful reef coral and gadzillions of fish. Your best bet would be to go to the Ports-of-Call forum. Tons of info there. To get there, just go to the top and click on message boards, then Cozumel. Have a great cruise!
