CRUZERNUT Posted January 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2006 For our trip to Egypt for a Nile river trip, we have been told we are limited to 1 piece of luggage weighing no more than 44 lbs and 1 piece of carry on per person. Have also been told carry-ons with wheels won't fit ( in bus overheads, I suspect) as they are wider than the required 6 inch maximum. We have purchased a relatively compact carry-on for our trip. It does have small wheels and at one end is 7" instead of 6". Can anyone advise us as to their experiences with baggage? Are the airlines or tour companies (we are on Grand European) really tough on these size requirements or can you get by with items that "are close?" Any suggestions would be helpful. harrodsfan Posted February 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2006 Hi! Egypt air limits you to 44 pounds supposedly. On a recent tour we each had two bags which were together over 44 pounds..But they weighed us in as a tour group and we had no problems. Th planes we took were airbuses and had normal size overheads...you souldn't have a problem. Heads up ...if you are flying from CAiro to Abu Simbal...the flight leaves at 3:30 am!!! Be prepared for no sleep. Flight from Luxor to Cairo was at 6:30 am.
