Firefighter's wife Posted January 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2006 :) I know I've read threads that mentioned,if you carry your own luggage you can leave the ship early. Then again I've read only if you have an early flight:confused: So what is it,can we do self debarkation even if we don't have a early flight???? Thanks In Advance........Vee:cool:
artemese Posted January 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2006 if you carry ALL of your own luggage you can disembark early... usually very early..... it is difficult if you have more than a couple of bags.. the walk is usually quite long kinda hard with really heavy and bulky luggage..... i would think twice before doing this if you have as much luggage as we usually do!!! if you travel VERY light i would say go for it!!!:)
Tiger Lilly Posted January 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Most of the cruises we've been on - the airline ticket holders leave first - then the self assist passengers - then the people with color coded luggage tags.
Muumuu Posted January 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Our last 4 cruises have been self. Three great and 1 bad experience with it. Wouldn't go any other way now. Looking of ways to reduce amount of luggage. I am down to one rolling to check in and one carry on. Love it.
sounder Posted January 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2006 My understanding was that if you have an early flight, they will get you off in time - either by self assist or otherwise. We did self assist and were at the airport (Ft. Lauderdale) by about 9:30 or so?
bulldogmom Posted January 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Call me lazy but I really don't want to have to carry my own luggage off the ship. I don't even like having to roll my own luggage to the check-in counter at the airport. Hey, I'm on vacation LOL! I've heard both good and bad things about the self debark but I've never tried it. I don't mind having to spend a few more minutes on the ship and we never have a very early flight, we always just wait till our color is called and leave then, pick up our luggage and are on our way. The walk from the boat to the actual customs lines and so forth is pretty long and sometimes you are going up/down escelators, over un-even ground etc..... so I'd keep that in mind. Happy sailing........
