charlesspinney Posted October 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2019 There seems to be an unfortunate large amount of medical evacuations on the QM2. We sailed a westbound TA in June and had to divert to Halifax. A helicopter evaluation was not possible due to fog. The Capitan tried to make up time but wind and fog delayed us by nearly 5 hours. I phoned our insurance company to see what I could do if we missed our flight. I was told that medical emergencies was not one of the covered reasons for delay. Luckily, Cunard gave us a letter saying wind and fog prevented the QM2 from making up the time. Weather, along with mechanical problems and traffic accidents, were covered. We made our flight by minutes! If we hadn't, we might have faced several days in a New York hotel at our cost.
