F5Loar Posted April 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Do Carnvial ships offer the Renewal of Vows Ceramony like HAL and others? On HAL it's a $99 extra but well worth it with all the perks. I've not read where anyone has done this on Carnival. Till we sail on the Zuiderdam Til we sail on the Mariner of The Seas RCL until we sail on the Disney Wonder til we sail the ms Maasdam
sea_u_onboard Posted April 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Sorry - Carnival does not do renewals - you have to spring for the wedding package. I think Carnival is missing the boat on this one as they could do renewals at sea (since there are no legalities associated with it) and they could make some extra money and quit nickel and diming everyone. -- Cheryl ****Proud member of O.A.T.C.**** Check out my Homepage in my profile for Conquest info 10/99 Fantasy 12/01 Inspiration 03/02 Inspiration 03/03 Conquest Short one on the Celebration JULY 31, 2004

sea_u_onboard Posted April 23, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2004 If others are traveling with you I have a suggestion. I thought about "surprising" my DH and renewing our vows. My BIL and SIL were going to go with us on the cruise (before we had to cancel) and I was going to ask him to become an ordained minister. You can do it online for a small fee. I thought it would be pretty neat to have him perform the ceremony. Since the trip got cancelled I didn't pursue it any farther. My plan was to take on my own flowers and have he perform the ceremony on the back of the ship - outside. joy21 Posted July 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2004 We are renewing our vows on the Glory on July 24. We had to book it through the wedding company that plans all of Carnival's wedding. It is a bit expensive, but it was my Valentine's gift from my husband. He actually proposed all over again. He really took me by surprise. Only 12 more days!:p
joy21 Posted August 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2004 We did it and it was wonderful. Sure, it was expensive, but it was such a beautiful way to start our cruise. The vows for renewal were perfect and so meaningful. I was so nervous the first time that I don't even know what I vowed to do. This time it was so romantic!!:p
Cinderelli Posted August 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2004 On our Disney cruise 2 years ago, it was our 20th anniversary. In one of their ports toward the end of the cruise, we got our family together at a designated time on the beach, and some new friends we met while on the cruise, including our waiter and server -- whom we had tons of fun with on the ship. We all met and handed them our camera and camcorder. We stood by the water. We exchanged vows again in one of the most beautiful spots in the world... in our bathing attire, with a dress on top for me and a flower in my hair -- Hawaiian camp shirt for hubby. It was beautiful. A crowd gathered. One lady cried. At the end, we christened our next 20 years by jumping into the water with our entire group. What a celebration! What I have learned in years of planning meetings and events is... sometimes you don't need the FORMAL to make it MEMORABLE. I am sure everyone of the people there -- including us and our kids -- will never forget that moment in time. And we have the pictures to prove it. And all it took was some questioning of the crew about the perfect spot to exchange the vows -- and a few mentions to our new friends at other table to make the spontaneous magic happen! Good luck to YOU and happy anniversary! :p
DebBrown Posted August 9, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Your stories are making me cry. How romantic! Best of luck and if Carnival won't do it then just do it yourselves! :)
stlrboo Posted August 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 9, 2004 The 'Weddings & Honeymoons' forum may give you some ideas! DW and I were married in OchoRios this past April while cruising on the Triumph.. We had Carnival arrange it, and it was lovely but close to $1000 for the package (worth every bit of it), but I'm betting any of the 'Island' Wedding Service sites would be more than happy to escort you and make the arrangements, for much less, to do the 'on island' renewal at one of your ports-of-call! Worth a shot...! and they are memorable.. ;)
sea_u_onboard Posted August 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Where would you say is the BEST spot to renew? We are going to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Be specific.

Not sure if we'll be in Alaska - love the scenery. or the Mexican Riviera - beaches. The first thing that went through my mind was wearing a sun dress and my DH in a camp shirt and linen pants. Sigh, how comfortable.
EKELLEY Posted August 9, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Cheryl, DH & I are going on the Conquest 11/7/04 & we are renewing our vows at Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay. They are charging 380.00 for the service, flowers, photo CD, cake, bottle of wine & mini reception with the cake & a toast. We have 2 other couples going with us & they will be able to go to the resort for 20.00 each. That is what they charge for people from cruise ships to use their all inclusive resort which includes all drinks & food. I think this is a pretty good deal. There is another all inclusive place in MB called Holiday Inn Spree that will do renewals for 400.00 but they charge 50.00 for cruise ship passangers. Hope this helps.
