simplyrubies Posted December 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2019 If you are not already aware, there have been massive general strikes in Paris (and all over France) as a result of pension reform. If you are going to France soon, particularly Paris, please stay up to date with all travel information. I am not sure how long strikes will continue - the last time something like this happened, the strikes continued for 3 weeks. In particular, the metro right now in Paris is very unreliable with most lines not running or running very slowly. It's to the point where many universities have either cancelled exams or scheduled online exams because there is no reliable way for students to get to school. Some museums are not open, or only opening for partial hours as it is difficult for employees to get to work. The RATP strikes are expected to last until December 17 and there is a strong possibility that they will go on for longer. It was so bad that one Parisian woman gave birth on the train because she could not make it to the hospital on time! Train travel is also extremely reduced - this includes the national service (SNCF), and Eurostar.
