We sailed on the Victory 2/2004 and paid just over 1800.00 for 8a gty, for my wife, son and I. We had such a great time we are looking for the same thing next year and the prices are 2300-2500 whats up? Who is the cheapest online booking?

Prices are up, because people are returning to travelling. Costs (such as fuel) are also increasing. Lastly, there is no one best place to find a price on a cruise.

hmmm... yeah, more and more people are taking vacations, and fuel prices are exorbitant!

However, check out expedia/hotwire, cruisequick.com, and buycruises. I have had good luck with quotes from all of these places.

Those days are over. Yeah, you used to be able to get cheaper rates closer to sail time, not anymore!
Many of the CCL ships for this summer are near SOLD OUT! Don't count on any bargains when ships are booking so well, so far ahead of time.

I've noticed that prices for the Fall, have recently jumped quite a bit.
However, if you can wait it out a little, you will usually find some lower prices poping up again close to the end of summer. When they start wanting to fill up those Sept. Oct. & November Cruises.

That doesn't quite hold water pgmrdev. We always book at least a year in advance and always pay way lower than what we would have paid if we waited.

One good thing about booking early is that if you see the price drop below what you booked at ,just call TA and most will honor the drop .

JEFFNAMY do search on net on different travel agents than call CCL for a pvp to work with . Tell them what price you found and see if they will honor it.

We booked about this time last year at $589 priced dropped to $529 ,which is what we paid and now price is $849. We also got an upgrade .

For everyone that has enjoyed the rock bottom prices of the last three years or so........you can say goodbye to them. The price of cruising is going back up again.

One reason is that more people are starting to travel again for different reasons.

The cruise lines were in a building boom for the last five to six years and now that is over. Very few new ships coming out over the next two years and cruise lines are not ordering new ships right now. The demand has finally reached the supply level.

I have read on several different sites where TA's are having a hard time finding space on Carnival and RCI. I also read on the RCI board tonight where RCI is charging a rate of $999.00 for 3/4th passengers on the Voyager class ships at certain times of the year. I expect that Carnival will raise theirs to keep up with the competition.

I just booked a quick three night cruise on the Fantasy for Labor Day weekend and did not get a great price at all. Funny thing is, a lot of the outside cabins were already taken this early.

I don't have a problem with the cruise lines raising the price as long as they cut out some of this nickel and dime junk but I will not hold my breath on waiting for that to happen.

The cost you pay for traveling during high season. I have booked every cruise within 90 days of travel and have alway got the best deal. Have even got upgraded several times on a drop including my 6-8-2004 cruise. Choose to travel during the summer? They know you are a captive audience and probably can't travel any other time! They got you! They are not going to lower prices for that season. Be it school teachers, families with kids, etc., they know your window is small. I will never cruise during that time!! Any other time of the year, there is usually availablility late with dropping prices. And there are are always bargains. Everyday there is a new message or thread here of someone asking what to do about a price drop!!! Prices are dropping for somebody! You're reading the threads.

As for supply equaling demand, stop reading industry magazines and read financial reports! They don't stop building when supply equals demand! That is the most laughable statement I've ever read! They stop building because supply is a glut!! When supply equals demand you need to create more supply by building!! Think about it!! You think they build when there is a high rate of unoccupied cabins?

No, the building boom isn't over yet. I read somewhere that RCCL is building at least two Super-Voyager class ships, bigger than the QM2. Also, Carnival is supposedly planning their new class of super liner. The discounting has slowed some as people are getting back to vacationing away from home. The pent-up demand for cruising will only last a short while then the cruise lines will have to do something to fill up all those empty cabins.

Yes RCI is building two new ships but they will not come into service until 2006 and 07. Carnival only has two new ships being built at this time. Nothing after that will come out until at least 2007 for them. There is going to be a break in the new builds entering service. In the past five years the major cruise lines were turning ships out at a couple a year. Those days are over for at least the next two to three years.

I also understand supply and demand. Cruise lines are not building at this time due to the current ratio of the Euro against the good ole dollar. Mickey knows when he is ready to build plus Carnival is eyeing the Asian market as their next area of cruising.

Well la dee frick'in da! Some of us do have children and for us, cruising in the middle of february or whenever, is NOT an option.

That is still the tail end of the off time. Prices leap after that.

Last year, I got a guarantee balcony on the EOS for $1300. It is now going for over $300 for the same June sailing time. RCL has really jacked up prices, and that $1000 per kid (3rd and 4th passenger) is no joke. One bright spot-
CCL rates for summer /05 aren't looking their usual outrageous. For June/July, most of their 7 day cruises are going for around $3900 for a family of four on a guarantee balcony. Book on board, and you get $100 credit. Add to that a shareholder $100 credit ( I guess I can't complain when CCL gouges us, eh?) and at least $500 back from my CCL credit card and I am looking at around $3200, assuming I don't transfer my booking to a travel agent who could probably knock a couple of hundred bucks off. $3000 doesn't sound bad at all to cruise during the 4th of July...

Or . . . the beginning of peak season, if you want to look at it that way. Most Florida schools are out by the end of May, so that's when we cruise.

We booked our August cruise in March and now the prices for a balcony have gone up $300 a person. I'll keep checking but I'm glad we booked when we did. The price increase was about 2 weeks later!

My earlier cruises were dirt cheap. They got my hooked line and sinker obseesed with cruising now...its too late.

My next two cruises I booked almost 1 1/2 out. Both are very high now compared to what I paid.
My cruise to Nowhere when i first seen it advertised for 199 pp _ I waited a bit and paid 280.. Today that same cabin is over 400 bucks pp.
Last cruise on the Voyager the price never did come down any only slowly raised to 300 more pp then what we paid.

Going NOWHERE
