Past Cruisers**Empress of the Seas**11 Day S. Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Hi! My family and I are experienced cruises and are planning an 11 day Southern Caribbean cruise next December on the Empress. We've booked a JS # 9124 on deck 9 and we're anxious to find out everything we can about her.

  • What did you like best about this cruise?
  • What didn't you like?
  • Were you surprised by anything?
  • What was your favorite excursion while on this cruise?
  • How many formal nights were there?
  • Are there refrigerators in the Junior Suites?
  • Did anyone have problems bringing beer, soda or water onboard?
  • Has anyone heard about the Empress going into drydock in November of 2006??

Any info you'd like to share would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

What did you like best about this cruise? The idea that it was port intense. We were able to visit many locations we have not see in the past

What didn't you like? There is really nothing I did not like, other than a couple of our table mates. The shows we attend were good, the food was good and the service was outstanding probably due to the size of the ship.

Were you surprised by anything? When getting off the ship, you had a smell of sewer but not bad and only when we were getting on and off the ship

What was your favorite excursion while on this cruise?

Only did one excusion in St Maarten, ok but the rest of the islands it was touring on our own with a local driver and beach time.

How many formal nights were there? Two

Are there refrigerators in the Junior Suites? No, but our room steward keep ice on the beer every day.

Did anyone have problems bringing beer, soda or water onboard? Don't bring in on, always buy on the ship, but know other individual who did bring it on without a problem.

Has anyone heard about the Empress going into drydock in November of 2006?? No

I haven't been on the Empress yet (but scheduled on the 12/4/06 sailing).

I spoke to RCCL, and the Empress is going into drydock for about a week in November, 2006. They couldn't tell me exactly what was going to be done, but they said that since it is only going to be in for a short time, it is probably nothing major, just cosmetic.
