D&L Posted June 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2004 On our cruise this past March, we booked a cruise on the Summit for March '05. That cost about $901.00. Inside room 3079. ($200.00 shipboard credit) Last week that same cruise was $1,600.00. This week it's $1,800.00!!!!! Lucky for us? Sure! My question. Why did the price jump so darn much, so early on Celebrity and the competitors (?) RCCL and Princess are still in the $800 - $1,000 range? Don't get us wrong, we are grateful, just curious as we still feel "new" to cruising and don't have it all figured out yet. I think we'll book are next one while onboard, too. Happy ks Posted June 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2004 This is a 10 day cruise, right? Are you sure you aren't comparing 7 day cruises to this one. It looks as if you have gotten a great deal. hdawson Posted June 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2004 One of the M class vessels have a large group recently reserved. Not sure which one. Those cabins might actually be booked but some may be returned to inventory later and then prices would come down. Supply and demand I guess. Did all cabin categories go up drastically? Of course I think prices will continue to inch up. This is the last year of massive newbuilds for the industry and cruising continues to grow in popularity.
