Shallow tidal flats/ good swimming area?

We were in CM last week, we took the taxi to town and walked through it to the far end, stopping at a little bar/cafe "cafe del Mar". It was peaceful and very laid back, you looked for the waitress, she never came over to bug you!

I was disappointed trying to swim though, due to the very shallow water. It was also squishy bottomed with grassy spots, so I wore my sandals. When I asked about the tide, I was told there was little depth difference with the high tide. Has anybody gone to a beach along this stretch that was good for swimming?

If I went back I would take an inflatable raft, and paddle out, instead of flopping down in knee high water and kicking sea grass.:)
