Dining room request for room service desserts ?

My father, 79 y.o., has simple taste. For dessert every night he likes chocolate cake. The desserts on cruises tend to be too fancy for him. Since, on the Zenith at least, Black Forest cake is availabe 24/7 from room service, would it be out of line for him to request that as a dessert in the dining room.

Talk to his waiter. They will usually accomodate almost anything reasonable. My wife and another fellow at our table on our last Celebrity cruise said they liked creme brule. The assistant Maitre'D arranged for them to get two each, every night. They even delivered them to our cabin the night we went to the SS United Sates.
