IcE_MaN Posted February 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Hi everyone, i have just been reading alot of threads and they are very helpfull, it saves us having to ring up P&O everytime a question pops into my head.. anyways me and some friends will be going on our first cruise in December ( new horizons anyone else on that?) and jsut have some questions about random things like .... 1, what times do the bars (outdoor and indoor) and pools and spars stay open till at night ?? 2, and with the money situation.. do you pay up front for the card or do you just get the bill at the end of cruise.. 3, How much money ( average ) have you all been spending ?? and finaly a serious question.... If someone in your cabin pulls out midway through the yr ( we have 4 ppl ) what happens then do all 4 have to cancel or do the other 3 just go on and pay the extra money ?? thanx everyone for the help so far and i can't wait till december !!!!:)
cruiselover96 Posted February 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Hi IceMan and welcome to the boards. 1. Bar times vary. On the Sky the inside ones were open till late and the outside ones open 2. On the Sky on put a sum of money onto your cruise card and when that runs low or out you top it up with what ever amount you wish. If you don't spend it all, you go to the Pursers office on the last night - late - and get the balance back. 3. Depending on how much you drink, spend on souveniers, tours etc. More is better than not enough so I'd take maybe $1,000 - $2,000. (you probably won't spend that much but it's better than not having enough.) 4. If someone pulled out it used to be that you paid the extra but not sure if that's the same or whether they try and get someone to fill the 4th bed. Don't worry December will be here before your know it!!!!! Any more queries there's plenty of people here only too willing to help. Kerri

Kerri IceMan, I guess from your cruise number (R701) that you are sailing on Pacific Star, which has a different system. On Star, all charges go against your cruise card, and the final balance is charged to your nominated credit card at the end of the cruise, orsettled in cash. If you are intending to pay by cash you'll need to pay a $300 deposit at the start of the cruise.
Painter Posted February 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Hello IceMan. I can help you with the shared cabin accommodation question. My sisters and I have booked a shared 4 berth cabin for our three day cruise in March. I asked my T.A. if one of the four can't make the cruise ...what can we do. She said we could get someone else to take the person's place but it would cost $100 for the name change. My sisters and I have taken out Travel Insurance so if something like... ill health (Doctor would need to verify) or ...a death in the family ...the insurance would cover the loss. Hope this is a help to you. Marleneann.
firstimercruiser Posted February 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2006 When I booked, we were originally going to have 4 in the cabin. I asked TA what would happen if someone pulled out. She said they would lose their deposit and the extra would have to be paid byt the other 3. You book out the whole cabin and the price you pay is for the cabin, divided by 3 or 4. frog cruiser Posted February 16, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2006 Ice Man hello Just remember that you should keep some money to one side ,as doctors on board cost money and you should be ready for the unexpected. I spend about 1,000 but "I"(mum) who does not drink or gemble spends no more than 500 per cruise.
