Just back - Rum Point

Thanks to all on this board who suggested Rum Point. We went there Sat. 2/11 off of the Brilliance. We were the only ship in port that day! We rented a car on line with AvisCayman. There were 6 of us and we had a Taurus for $62. total includ. gas. Rum Point was beautiful and a great change from 7 Mile Beach which we have been to many times. It was quite crowded at Rum Point, maybe because it was a Sat. and lots of locals there. We had lunch on the beach on a shaded picnic table with our feet in the sand! $15. U.S. for great sandwich and coke. No charge for beach chairs and a clean rest room. Avis gave us a great map and no problem driving on the "wrong side of the road"!

Thanks for the review of Rum Point... we have booked a vehicle from Avis as well a jeep to visit Rum Point in June when we cruise there on Freedom of the Seas inaugural cruise.

How long was the drive?

The drive to Rum Point was about 30 - 40 min. Once we got out of town there was not much traffic. It was a secnic drive. We left Rum Point around 3p.m. We did get lost on the way back. We stopped to ask directions and found we were very close to the car rental place at the airport. When we returned car, they drove us in a van right to the tender dock. A 5 - 10 min. drive. It was very easy.
