Cozumel: Alison or Eagle Ray Divers??

I have previously dove with Eagle Ray divers in Cozumel but have heard rave reviews about diving with Alison. Who would you recommend? Eagle Ray was good, but their boat and equipment a bit outdated.....Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

We are scheduled to dive with Alison in week and a half - it will be our first time with her so no info on actual diving operationg but I have to say scheduling with her (and then changing due to our cruise dumping a stop and changing our port times) has been great with Alison. She gets back to you quickly and is very accomodating - we are really looking forward to our dives with her.:)

My wife and I also booked with Alison for our upcoming Mar 24 Coral Princess sailing. Haven't dove with her before but agree that booking with her was a breeze. Gave her our dive history for planning purposes and we're ready to go. She was open to letting us select specific sites if we were so inclined.

OKPetlady, let us know how your dives with Alison turn out. thx

I just dove this past week with Alison for my AOW while staying in Cozumel. I strongly recommend ScubawithAlison. I have her booked already for my family in March when we are there on a cruise. She has a big following of repeat divers some of whom I met during the week. She also had some cruising divers during the week and had everything set for them. Alison, Chucho, and Carlos which make up ScubawithAlison were all great.

The sea was really rough on Monday and I got seasick during the SI. She took me to a pier and Chucho drove me to my hotel. That was really above and beyond. I had never been seasick before and one of her regulars told be about Bonine and even gave me some for the next day. It worked like a charm.

She is really flexible, she asked to start on day at 10am to accomdate a diver from a cruise. He wasn't there at 10:20 so we had to leave the Caleta (marina). She got word that he arrived around 10:30 and arranged to pick him up a beach close to the dive sight after he got a ride from Chucho. That was great!

She uses a fast six pack boat and provides fruit and drinks during the SI. She can also arrange for a bigger boat if your group is large. She and Chucho really know the reefs. Carlos is always right there to pick you up. It doesn't get much better than that.

I dove with Alison last year and plan to do it again on my next cruise. She is very good along with her crew. Very responsive to contacting and coordinating with you and will make sure you have a great dive.

Check out her web site - http://www.scubawithalison.com/

You can also check her out in my photos (site below).

Alison is booked for the day I will be in port. Are there any other suggestions out there for a good dive op that works with the cruise ships?

Did you ask her for a recommendation? I really like Christi's http://www.bluextseadiving.com and http://www.liquidbluediving.com is a very close second. I haven't gone out with http://www.scubatony.com but I've met him and he is pretty nice. I've been on a boat with Raul of http://www.bottomtimedivers.net/ and he is also a nice guy. He will go out with as few as 2 divers.

Other divers were using Christi (BlueXTSea), LiquidBlue, and Raul (Bottomtime) when I was there and they all got great reviews.

We are now home from our 2/25-3/4 cruise on the Grand Princess - we dove with Alison on 3/2/2006. We are fairly new divers so please consider when reading this review. Weather was not great - a little sun on the first dive heavy rain on second - that being said - we still had a great time. We met Alison at the marina - her directions were perfect. We picked up 2 other couples from the Iberostar resort. One couple had received their certification that week with Alison. Alison asked us what we wanted to see - we being pretty new divers we wanted to see sharks, turtles and rays. I am happy to say that mother nature smiled on us and we saw all three! Alison was great to dive with - my husband has a lot of equilization problems and she worked with him on that he said it was one of his most comfortable dives. Our first dive was the Palancar Caverns - I am sorry I cannot remember the location of the second one. We saw the turtles on the first dive and the sharks and ray on the second dive. We had a great time - we are hoping to dive again with Alison in November. :)
