What is weather like crossing the Pacific in May?

My wife and I will be travelling between San Diego and the Hawaiian Islands in May. Since there will be a total of 8 sea days, we are most interested in finding out what kind of weather we might experience that time of year. Particularly, what are the day time outdoor temperatures and what kind of seas might we expect.

Anyone have any first hand information they could share regarding our upcoming Pacific journey?

Thanks,

Ron

We took our cruise last month--L.A. - Hawaii. The first 2 days were cool...not real cold, and with rough seas, but after that the weather warmed up, and the seas were calm. Coming back, we had smooth seas, but again, cooler weather closer to the mainland.

May should be quite a bit warmer, but it's always good to be prepared...enjoy your cruise!

Often a little bumpy along the Left Coast - Japanese Current flows South along the Pacific Coast. Generally smmoths out a couple of days out.

We did a trans-Pacific May 89, Osaka Japan/Honolulu/Vancouver BC on the Sea Princess (originally Kungsholm, later Victoria, now Mona Lisa) and the water was very smooth all the way.

Love those sea days!

3 years ago we sailed from Hawaii to Vancouver. It was rougher than what you usually find in the Caribbean but you could certainly walk around without holding on to the wall and nothing was getting thrown off tables or out of the beds. After about 2 days it was too cold outside and got rainy. We ended up going from eating, to the casino, and back to eating most days and had a wonderful cruise. Enjoy!
