ariel865 Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I will be going to St Thomas and am interested in this tour. Can anyone tell me their good or bad experiences? Also, does anyone know if he is flexible in the time allotments? The site mentioned 3 hours of shopping and only 2 hours at Magens Bay.What if I wanted to switch that. Thanks for any help!!
Bunkie103 Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I have yet to see a bad word said about Godfrey. As far as customizing your time the tour includes approximately 25 people, so don't know what he can do for you there. For $20 you will definitely enjoy it. Cruisin'Susan Posted May 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2004 There wasnt that many on ours last week. He was sick and sent Timmy who is just as knowledgable. You will have a great time with him! Only thing I didnt like was the driving. It is a wild ride. Apparently tho that is how they all drive. You are in good hands. He will pick you up at 8, 9 or 10 to go shop. Believe me you will need that time. Tour around island is 2 hrs 15 mins. We got to beach at 2:15 and he picked us up at 4. Plenty of time for the beach/snorkling at coki. It was awesome. If you rent snorkle/fins 10.00 for the whole set, they will give you a dog food bone to feed to fish and they will be all over you. Was so much fun. For 20.00 you cannot beat it! The views from the mountains was breathtaking. Others on the boat took similiar tours for 40.00 each and didnt stop at the sights like we did and they were mad. LOL You wont be sorry! Glory03 Posted May 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2004 I booked Godfrey last December and he was full , but he booked us with Timmy who is awesome. If you book thru Godfrey you will have a GREAT time by all means . I promise you that you will not be let down. I was picked up at the ship and then went shopping , from there he picked up another party and then returned to the shopping area to get us. Off we went from there to an AWESOME tour of the city a GREAT photo moment !!!!! I didn't want to go to the beach as I wanted to go visit the snyagogue there instead. Timmy told us he would take us back to the shopping area and direct us from there as the roads there were too narrow for the bus. I was then totally surprised when he took us right to the front door, and told us to meet back where we were in the morning for ourpick up. I can't say enough about how wonderful Timmy was. I only wish there was a Timmy in every port. chieft26 Posted May 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Godfrey is awesome! He is more than accommodating and we never felt like we were being rushed from one place to the next. There are no negatives about his tours or him.
tjatczak Posted May 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Toured with Godfrey (and his brother Tony)in October 2003 with our family and friends - it was excellent! Best way to see the island, especially if it is your first time there! Had the opportunity to return in March 2004 with friends and tour with Godfrey again, it was even better. He treated us like we were some kind of VIP's, some of the other folks on the tour asked if we knew Godfrey ahead of time, because he went out of his way to make sure our tour was great! I would say that his tour is the best $20 I have ever spent on an island. Ted P.S. Don't miss having a daquari (banana or strawberry) at Mountaintop - they're GREAT! Also, ask him to stop at "Udder Delight" for a milkshake you will not forget! Time to go "cruise-shopping" again!
serene56 Posted May 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2004 www.godfreytorusvi.com How godfrey works is he picks up people and takes them downtown for shopping between the hours of 9am and noon. Then at noon you go on an island tour then head to the beach. We had him pick us up at 10am from the ship for the shopping as 3 hours seems way to long for me. it was perfect. I included the web site address for godfrey. Im sure you can write him an e-mail and request your info. Ashkins Posted May 12, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Do you think if we decide not to go to a beach he would drop us off at Coral World for a couple of hours? I am not a ~beach~ person and know I have a few more days of sun before the cruise is done. Don't want to fry on the first day. bob&karen Posted May 12, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Ariel - the shopping time is flexible (he will drop you off at 9, 10, or 11) but Godfrey doesn't have any wiggle room to extend your beach time past 4 p.m. If you really want to stay you could consider paying him when he drops you off at the beach and then take a taxi back to the ship - obviously more expensive, but Godfrey is so reasonable it'd still be worth it. Ashkins - Coral World is literally next door to Coki Beach, I'm sure Godfrey would have no problem dropping you off there. It'd be maybe a 90-second walk by foot. B. P.S. - Pix of Godfrey & his tour are posted at the link below.
