Internet with Verizon

Who has Verizon (in the US) and has cruised recently with Carnival? How does that work with texting? Do I purchase the cruise line internet AND arrange a texting package through Verizon?

I can't speak to Verizon specifically, but on any carrier I've ever had and used on cruise/airplane/etc., you just need their WiFi package (the cruise line's) and then using WiFi calling on your phone you can make calls and texts. You should not need anything special from your phone carrier.
