Belize , Passport ?

First, many [most?] on this board including me would recommend that you get a passport. Anytime you leave the US you should have a passport.

To answer your question, if you were to visit Belize by air or land, you would need a passport. However visiting by cruiseship, you do not have to have a passport as the cruiseline has an agreement with the Belize Gov't.

Imagine that you were injured in Belize and were hospitalized and missed your ships sailing.

Now you are in a strange country, injured, and now illegal as the ship is gone.

I'll just go ahead and start singing now!

Passports are also required for entry BACK into the United States. Like the previous poster said....GET THE PASSPORT.

I have traveled to Belize on Board Celebrity Galaxy. And although you don't need a passport I would HIGHLY recommend it! for the same reasons as the others have mentioned.

We travelled to Belize last May on our cruise. We still do not have passports. We just don't travel enough to other countries that require them to spend the extra money. I guess when they finally make us get them, I will have to. But until then.......
