fireboat Posted February 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2006 How is the shopping? Should I take a tote to hall all my loot back to the ship or wait till the next port (Grand Cayman)?
TC Cruiser Posted February 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Of the four cruises that I've been on and their ports, Belize had the least to offer.
DEL67 Posted February 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2006 It depends on what you want to buy. Both ports have a variety of souveniers. Grand Cayman has duty free shops that sell jewelry, crystal, perfume, liquor, etc. And it also has great rum cakes. Belize's shopping area at the pier has expanded over the last few years. They have a couple duty free shops too, but they do not have anywhere as large an assortment as Grand Cayman. However. last time we were there in Belize, there were beautiful items made out of native woods - bowls, carving boards, etc. In fact, we bought small carving boards for all our friends and they all loved them. LizaMM Posted February 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2006 FYI....you can get some pharmacy items that are perscription drugs here in the US. Personally I did not make any purchases but I saw lots of people doing so!
fireboat Posted February 27, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Thanks for the input. Originally, we were scheduled to hit Cozumel and GC. Both of those port-of-call boards give a good impression of both excursions and shopping. Now, that we are headed to Belize, I don't see as much discussion on the local shopping on. Just trying to get a feel for it. Thanks.
