Bonnie J. Posted February 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Check this out carefully. We were recently on a cruise and someone said they had been told handicapped parked for free. When they got to the parking lot, they were told that had been changed. Now there was a fee but, it was not as high as for non handicapped. Sorry, don't remember if it was Port Canaveral, Charlotte,SC or Fort Lauderdale - our cruise ports since Nov.
glgolfer Posted February 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2006 Here's the numbers for contact at Miami-Dade Port. Doesn't say anything about handicapped being free, but it was the last time we were there 3 years ago. You can call and find out the current status. http://www.co.miami-dade.fl.us/portofmiami/contact_us.asp

We paid $84.00, just like everyone else, but got to park in handicapped area on first floor of garage, thankfully.
DEL67 Posted February 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2006 Parking at the Port of Miami was still free for the handicaped last year. However. they do not identify you as handicap from plates or a hang tag. You need to tell them that you or a passenger is handicaped and show them proof.
