Walk from Taino Bay?

Hello,

Is the walk from Taino Bay to Puerto Plata safe? I have seen reviews of the new port (which looks lovely) but no one has ventured beyond the gates. We thought it would be nice to walk into Puerto Plata for a couple hours. Thanks!

It is safe but be prepared for a big difference between the port conditions and once you get past the walls. Some very poor areas that are the norm in central and south america. But safe they have security and police on basically every corner. Be prepared to be hounded by tour guides as soon as you appear haha they will not take no for an answer and will expect payment when you get back to the port.
