Rare pierces Posted February 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2022 (edited) My son the Pastor just accepted an offer to lead a very successful church up in the rapidly growing Southern California High Desert area. He is coming out early to start work with his family following when the house is emptied and ready to sell. He will need a car here and since spares aren't available in the local family, he needed to get one out here. Late Monday evening, I flew to Houston to help him drive his car back. He picked me up at 5:30 AM CST on Tuesday and 1,530 miles later, we pulled up to our house at 11:15 AM PST Wednesday. That included a 5-hour Holiday Inn nap and breakfast with my grandson in Phoenix. It was sort of a cross between a family bonding adventure and the Bataan Death March with lots of conversation revolving around the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings lore, video games and his plans for the direction he wants to take with his new job. Speed limit helps shorten parts of the trip. 5:00 PM - 12 hours from Houston to the New Mexico border Mid-morning Wednesday. Almost home...90 miles to go! It would have taken us a bit longer to get to California if we had satisfied our scientific curiosity and stopped to find a neighborhood with enough strays to see how well this unusual Hyundai feature folds cats. Like I said, I'll stick to cruising! Dave Edited February 17, 2022 by pierces 2
