L&Jcruise Posted February 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2006 Hi there- I'm new to the cruising scene. I just booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean & one of the shore excursions is to Belize. The booking agent explained that a birth certificate and ID were sufficient for the cruise, but this seems to conflict with the US Dept. of State site in regards to Belize. Is my birth certificate sufficient for a hassle free entry and exit to & from Belize??? Has anyone had a similar circumstance? Thanks in advance.... southfloridian Posted February 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2006 we didn't need a passport. It seems like entering the country via cruise line is different than flying/driving in.
DEL67 Posted February 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2006 In general, in the Caribbean once you have shown proof of citizenship to the cruise line while checking in, you do not need to do so again until immigration at the end of the cruise. However, for security purposes, most ports require you to show a picture id and your ship card to get back into the port area (or on a tender if it is a tender port.)
