mataactor Posted February 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2006 Hello folks! My friends and I are sailing on the Carnival Glory this coming saturday (Feb 25th) from Port Canaveral. The plan is to leave from here (MI) tomorrow night around 11pm tomorrow night, putting us into PC between 8-10pm Friday night. We haven't made reservations at any hotel and we are hoping to find one on the drive into the city (or somewhere close and on the way). Are there any hotels that are relativley inexpensive (less than $50 or 60 a night) that any of you have stayed at or would recommend? Thanks a bunch and I cant wait to sail with some of you Saturday! Whimsy Posted February 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2006 I don't know if you can find a room for that rate but here is something we do when we travel without reservations. When you come into Florida stop at the visitor's center and pick up the coupon travel books they have inside. These can also usually be found at most rest stops. Inside are lots of coupons for the areas hotels. We have been able to stay at some pretty nice places with the coupons. I have also been able to call on the cell phone while we are driving and check availability. Your late arrival may not allow you to use the coupon as they limit the number of rooms available with the coupon but at least you can start calling and get some walk in rates. Another idea for you would be to stay in Orlando. You would be about 45 minutes or so from the pier. Orlando has lots of hotels and there will be many hotels in that coupon book you can call and check. Good luck!
dms_cruisers04 Posted February 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2006 I think your best bet would be Orlando as well. Coming in without a reservation and trying to find a hotel with availability would be difficult in Canaveral. Lots of other cruisers are going to be spending a pre-night too. Orlando would give you more options and the drive into PC is easy. Good luck and have a good cruise.
