Christine, when you say the discount comes off the lowest price you can negotiate, what do you mean? I would love to be able to get a little something off, but I never knew to try. I guess I sort of figured the OPC Cruise Consultant was a come on. Do you have to book through them?

I use a TA to book the cruises, not directly through the OPC. I online price check before calling, so at that point, I have pretty much already figured out the lowest price is that I can get on my own. I then call her and tell her what I'm looking at. She gives me her price, then asks what I've found on my own. I tell her, she matches that price, then calls the OPC to find out how much discount they are going to give us.

Apparently, the OPC used to "outsource" their bookings to a special Travel Agency. This agency used to be listed on the OPC wesbite and literature as the contact for booking. Now, it appears as though they have taken this "in house", as the contact info goes directly to Carnival or the OPC. Basically, they have cut out the middle man.

Hope this helps!

that email up there was from OPC

Now this one is from the Fantasy Host I didn't want to put his/her name on the web I just don't feel right about that ( I wouldn't want that done to me)

Thank you very much for contacting the Ocean Players Club web site.

I am very pleased that you had such a good time aboard the Celebration.

We also look forward to your stay aboard the beautiful M/S Fantasy and

accommodating you and your families gaming needs.

As a Ocean Players Club Member I would love to organize a surprise Bon

Voyage gift package for you, courtesy of the Ocean Players Club. In

order for me to arrange this I simply require your booking number and if

possible your cabin number.

When you arrive here onboard the Carnival Fantasy, you will be

pleasantly surprised to know we have made changes to our slot tracking

system as we have updated the Ocean Players Club.

Now for every 1000 ocean points earned playing the slots, you will

immediately be rewarded with a $10 Instant Cash award. Sounds like a

good reason to keep playing the slots right?

In addition, you will also benefit from the ability to upload and

download credits instantly to your player bank which is like an

"electronic coin bucket" on your sail & sign card. This feature gives

you the mobility to move around the casino from machine to machine

effortlessly without having to cash out all those coins! And best of

all - it's free!

You may also choose to purchase machine credits directly from your sail

& sign account at the slot machine. With only a 3% surcharge - this is

a good reason to stay and play on your favorite machine!

I look forward to hearing from you regarding the above requested

information.

Hope this helps someone:)

Cruised late March. Came home, contacted OPC and was told that I would have goodies and 250 off next cruise! When I e-mailed, I just asked if our rating qualifies us for any discountson our next cruise, next Spring . They then phoned me, the rep I talked to got back to me within 4 hours with the discount.

Definitely not like Vegas, but 250 is 250!

I got "NUTTIN'" - not in my room nor in the casino...not so much as a drink! All of you who got something consider yourself lucky! :) There are some new machines that are nice (not payers, but take your money more slowly) - they are not ready for the Sail & Sign cards yet.

ANother problem with this casino is you often have to leave your machine (or game) to get a drink because there are no waiters or waitresses to be found!

When I was on the Glory in December, I played a lot in the casino on the slots. I used by card in all the machines that had the functioning card slot insert. Some of the machines did not. Unfortunately, I played a great deal on these machines so I got no credits. I think it is crummy that they had machines in the casino that would not take your card.

What has always annoyed me is that, being a table player, I easily go through 10 times the bets that my wife does and yet she usually gets more comps. Not just on the ships, land based casinos are the same.

May I ask - whom will you book your cruise with to get the aforementioned discount & goodies? OPC? Carnival? Your TA? If you wouldn't mind - I'd like to know (good info!).

When we were on the Miracle in January, I emailed the casino host several weeks in advance. I heard back from him and he said to look him up when we came aboard. Finally, the last day I was able to track him down and he gave me an OPC tote bag. I think his name was Michael.

Last year, I didn't get squat from them, but had received a letter after the previous cruise for a $40 rebate. That year they gave me all kinds of OPC stuff. I think the prize thresholds must change from time to time. I do know those extra $10 rewards make it nice!

Kitten: The person I talked with was from the OPC. She would have made my reservation right there. Since I am not sure of exact date, she marked my file/account and told me to just call when I was ready (Probably not till late summer/early Sept). Anyway I plan to do my reserach for best price and then call her back.

When I had originally asked about comps, I e-mailed the casino host onboard and my e-mail was obviously forwarded to OPC. They in turn e-mailed the ship for rating.

p.s. I hope I didnt confuse anyone with this explanation.

Got back from Fantasy yesterday. Our room was done but that was it. Dh is a black jack player so I wasn't expecting to much since most perks go to slot players.

DH plays at the 25 dollar table and at some points in time we where the show.........lol At one time we had more then 10 people watching him and another guy play. We never paid for a drink in the casnio not because of the host but because on the wonderful Pitt bosses! The dealers are great we had a problem with one and they quickly moved him and he never dealed to DH again, so DH was happy.

My in laws where with us and the host gave them a bunch of stuff. Tees, cups, caps, card, and a bunch more for both of them. They play 3 card poker Let it ride and carib. stud poker.

At dinner the casino manger (not the host diffrent person) sent us a bottle wine, not being wine drinkers we had them send it to the room packed up nicely and will save it for a dinner party.

I hope that helps some of you all.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you had a great time, and livened the casino up quite a bit! Wish I was there :)

I'll report my experiences back next weekend :D

Emailing the Host on Liberty got me nada in the cabin. I did collect on the $20 Platinum free slot entry and $10/cashback per 1000 points, but that is standard. Never did introduce myself to host or try to get the "free" OPC stuff in the casino - I've already collected enough of that. :D

  • 1 year later...

My daughter and I are sailing Aug 30th on the Ecstasy for her 21st birthday. We are both very interested in spending considerable time in the casino. In the past, when cruising with DH, I have only spent minimal time in the casino (he doesn't gamble), but since it is just us girls we are going to "cut loose".:D

I have visited the OP site, but cannot find where we contact the ship directly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
