Hotel Suggestions for Rome

Three of my friends will be flying into Rome prior to our cruise in April.

Looking for a reasonable hotel in a good location. . .Would anyone know how much would they have to spend for a triple room?

Also, what area should they look for a hotel?

Many thanks!

www.hotelmozart.com. Wonderful triple room. We have stayed there many times and love it. I believe it's room 512? Large, with lovely french doors out to a private terrace. We have spent many hours on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine, listening to the bells. The room has a king and single bed and an individual thermostat. Flat screen TV and frig. Bathroom is large with full tub and very small shower. The hotel is a few blocks from the Spanish Steps, but in a small quiet alley. Drivers can drop you at the curb and you can either pull your wheeled cases the few yards to the front door or go in and ask the bell man to help you. Free computer in a beautiful room on the second floor and the breakfast room is bright and cheery. Some people absolutely don't want to stay anywhere but the Piazza Navona or Pantheon area, but we find it entirely too touristy. It's about a 15 minute walk to those areas. There are many cafe's nearby and small boutique shopping as well as the famed Via Condoti nearby. You will also see a small apartment as well as some new suites (Vivaldi) listed on their site. The Vivaldi Suites get rave reviews, but I'm not sure if they sleep more than two.

We stayed in the Hotel Capo d'Africa which is about 3 blocks from the Colisium and walking distance to the subway. The hotel is billed as "boutique" and was originally on Oceania's pre/post list. They had great difficulty getting their big buses down the street to pick up passengers and luggage so they dropped it. It is a shame since it is a great hotel with beautiful rooms, good staff and reasonable price but the best part is the buffet breakfast served every morning on the roof with a clear view of the colisium and all those quaint Rome rooftop gardens!
