Tampa - Tarpon Springs Restaurants - Sensation May 29

Recommended Posts

We will be cruising on the Sensation on May 29. The evening before we will be driving down and would like to eat in Tarpon Springs at one of the Greek Restaurants. Does anyone know of one that is exceptional? or perhaps there is a good one in Tampa that someone would like to recommend. We will be staying at the Hyatt Regency that evening and will be driving from South Georgia. How about breakfast in the morning prior to boarding the ship that is close to they Hyatt?

I think that the most famous is Louis Pappas' in Tarpon Springs. They have been around for many many years. They have an awesome Greek salad.

I live in Tampa and Pappas is very overated. It was just bought by new owners and is really a tourist trap. There are some wonderful restaurants up on the side streets of Tarpom, including Hellas (sp). You also may want to try the Columbia in Ybor city. They have fantastic Cuban food and a flamenco show. Try the 1905 salad and the seafood paella, yum!

We always go to Tarpon Springs when we get to Florida. Being a Greek family, we know our foods! LOL! I have to agree, there are many restaurants in the Greek Village. We have gone to a few of them and they all were really good. After dinner you can go to one of the pastry shops and have a wonderful time eating the awesome desserts! Enjoy!

OK, it's been bugging me all night. One of the really good ones on the side street is called Costas!!!! Try it. It's a family owned restarant and then after dinner go have dessert on the main drag. Try the Greek coffee too, its strong!

I live in Illinois and find it necessary to go to Hellas in Tarpon Springs at least once a year. Also, bring a cooler to transport bakery items back to the condo. You sure won't be able to eat your dessert there if you finnish your dinner.

Our favorite is Mykonos. Main street, small, has a parking lot out back and a back door entrance. We always see lots of Greek locals eating there. Favorite foods, spanokopita (this appetizer will fill you up like a main meal) and orzo soup. Not too expensive. We like to park there, eat inside and spend the day shopping, etc. No cost for parking. Enjoy your day in Tarpon Springs and your cruise. Cathy
