dawnp Posted May 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Does anyone know if you can order online or do you have to call the 800 number to add fun ship dollars to your account before you cruise If you do this do you have to go the "gift certificate" route? i.e. order the certificates sent to your home and then send them back to carnival before your cruise.... tia, Dawn until Century Then let the countdown to the Miracle 08/07/04 begin Fantasy - 02/
pgmrdev Posted May 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Your credit card is linked to you S&S card. Why would you need to add dollars?

Grand Princess 2-2001 Grand Princess 12-2001 Carnival Paradise 3-2002 Carnival Destiny 10-2002 Golden Princess 10-2003 Carnival Legend 6-8-2004

ljrfrm Posted May 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2004 I have been buying funship dollars for several months now. Yes, the credit card is linked, but I don't want a huge bill at the end of my cruise month...this is my way of saving slowing....and it's fun...makes the cruise seem real. I was told that they need to be ordered via telephone with the 800 number....they will ask you if you want gift certificates or placed on your S&S account...I place mine all on the account. The only thing that you need to know....they told me that even though I already have money on my account...I still need to pay the put the same money down when I embark that every else has to, the money I already put on my account doesn't count. NAVY WIFE Posted May 15, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2004 ljrfrm, Did I understand correctly? Even if you purchase the gift certificates and have it put toward your s&s account, you will still have to give them (if paying in cash) the required amount per person when you board? Thanks for your help. Days till Holiday
ljrfrm Posted May 16, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Navy Wife - That's what the Carnival rep told me when I bought my last $200 towards my account. It doesn't really make sense to me - but I will not buy anymore funship dollars just in case it's true....he specifically said I had to go through the "same process and add the money" just like any other passenger. Not sure why though..maybe it's just easier and quicker to make everyone do the same instead of looking up S&S accounts to see where they stand. One thing I noticed about Carnival though, you tend to get a different answer from different people..so who knows. I'll find out on my cruise and let you all know. camreesmom Posted May 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2004 ljrfrm, please let us know when you get back from your cruise. You're right, when you call Carnival, you get a different answer every time you call. We're taking all the kids on a cruise next summer and I would really like to buy some funship dollars ahead of time so it's not so much of a hit all at once. ljrfrm Posted May 16, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 16, 2004 I'll definitely let you all know what happens. Here's another question - I thought I read that you need to put a credit card or $250 for the S&S account when you embark, but the Carnival rep told me it was $350 ( 7 day cruise). Any one which amount is correct? Paradise 6/
camreesmom Posted May 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 16, 2004 $350 sounds right for a 7 day because I read somewhere that it is $50 per day deposit if you do cash. NAVY WIFE Posted May 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 16, 2004 Maybe it has changed, but I have a 2003-2004 Carnival booklet that says: A minimum deposit will be required for cash accounts: 2 to 4 day cruises, $100; 5-8 day cruises, $200; 9 day or longer cruises, $350.
