sweetantigua Posted February 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2006 This will be my first cruise and I'm looking for insurance for canadian travellers. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help. This board has been a great help already.:)
cruisinbuddy Posted February 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Your TA should have a couple of options. My TA is Sears and I bought RBC insurance through them. The premium is based on how much you're spending on your trip. Deffinately get it cause sh#t happens.
Learning the ropes Posted February 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2006 I'm researching the same thing right now. Suggest you check out TD-Canada Trust Travel medical Insurance. They also have an "annual plan" than includes trip cancellation and trip interruption at a much cheaper rate than RBC. Depends on your needs. ING sells insurance if you are a current policy holider - even President's Choice is in the business of insurance - though I believe you have to purchase it at the time of booking. big_duck Posted February 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Go to Insuremytrip.com and get quotes. Several of the companies that participate will cover Canadians. It is a lot cheaper then some of the quotes you get from TAs and such.
JXR Posted February 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2006 The last couple of years, I've also booked through insuremytrip.com. It is a lot cheaper than through my TA. One thing to remember is when it asks you the value of the trip, you will need to convert it in US funds, if not, you will overpay.
Cojobro Posted February 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Just read an ad in our newspaper (Windsor Star) about CAA travel insurance. They suggest it's abour 19.00 for 8 days for a 29 year old male. Sounds pretty cheap. WE never get it because we have travel ins. with our visa cards. jmcancruise Posted February 25, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Hi Fellow Canadian. Don't know what part of the country you are from, but last year I booked with Maritime Travel and also purchased insurance through them. Had problems with return air due to a late arrival in port, but they were extremely helpful in getting overnight accomodations and new flights. Got every penny covered that we expected. I can't imagine travelling without good coverage.
seedaz Posted February 25, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Try http://www.accessamerica.com, it has rates for Canadians and is a very good company.
lilbrd Posted February 27, 2006 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2006 Hey Canadians looking for travel insurance. After searching many offers, I found that Manulife Financial had a great deal for travellers. It saved me over 50% when compared to what CAA quoted me. Try looking at http://hermes.manulife.com. You can get a quote on the net and then call in to their 800 number.
